We invest in organizations seeking to benefit low-income, underserved, and under-resourced communities, as aligned with our mission and priorities. We are flexible in how we structure our investments and seek to create one that is mutually beneficial.

In assessing the viability of prospective investees, we use the following investment criteria:

ENTITY TYPE
Nonprofit and For-profit entities; CDFIs are prioritized

PROJECT FOCAL AREAS
The entities and initiatives SCF invests in to benefit low-income, distressed and underserved communities and individuals target the following focal areas:

  • Financial Inclusion
  • Affordable Housing
  • Business Development
  • Disaster Recovery
  • Economic Justice
  • Social Justice

SOCIAL IMPACT
Investments produce significant impacts on low-income, distressed and/or underserved communities and populations; those projects pursuing a new or unique model or approach are prioritized

INVESTMENT TYPES
SCF undertakes the following types of impact investments:

  • Debt
  • Equity
  • Credit deposits

SIZE
Typically between $300,000 – $700,000

TERM
Typically three to eight years

GEOGRAPHIC FOCUS
We invest mostly in US-based initiatives but do consider international projects as well
